April 17th Salmon report

Up early, out of the harbor mouth at 5:00 AM. Seas calm wind 5 knots east south east till 10:00 am. Calm till noon wind n/w 5 - 15 knots till 2:00 pm. 15-20 knots till 5:00 pm. Not the best conditions. We trolled from the shell mound all the way up to Cayucos, found bait birds in 134' - 90' of water landed 1 Salmon 15 lbs. 2:30. Heard of 8 fish caught for the whole day. Overall calm to rough seas slow fishing, Sharon Rawley, on the Fiesta out of Virg's landing had 3 fiah on her boat the highliner for the day.
I rain checked a charter for the weekend til the bite gets better. The bait balls are now happening for the first time this season. We just need some fish in them. Talked to a good comercial fisherman today he will be looking for sign on the outside and keep me informed when he see's the spot.
Best regards,
Captain Joseph Anderton
